Review: Charlotte Tilbury's Pinkgasm Beauty Light Wand Is Finally Back in Stock

In the spirit of  beauty IRL, we decided to try make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury’s Mini Miracle Eye Wand.

BEAUTY LIGHT WAND - Select shade

The blend of rose and gold tones is just so perfect and makes me look as cute as a cartoon princess. I still will give credit where credit is due. If it weren’t for these higher-end, cream-based contour and blush products, I’d still be kicking it with powder products. The viral, more expensive products led me to my long-lost loves—their dupes. I’ll definitely use them up until they’re gone, but when it comes to replacing, I’ll reach for the dupes time and time again until something better comes along—or at least until Madison Beer x Vogue releases an updated part two in the future. Due to the hype surrounding this product, I was anxious to get this highlighter on my face.

A quick search for viral Charlotte Tilbury products on TikTok reveals the search term has 458.8 million views. After a few months of having both the high-end products and their dupes, I have to say that the dupes reign supreme this time around. The packaging is pretty, the formula is creamy and satisfying to put on, and they make you look super glowy, which I can appreciate.

One viral video can sell out a product for months. The best example is Charlotte Tilbury’s Pinkgasm Beauty Light Wand, which is finally back in stock after being impossible to track down for half a year—so I suggest you grab one while you still can. After they arrived to my apartment building and I unboxed them like a wannabe makeup influencer, I opened them with care. And after months and months of waiting, they were finally in my hands. I had absolutely nothing to do that day (not even a Zoom meeting to show off my face), but you already know—I did full glam solely so that I could try them out. Back in February, I fell head over heels with Madison Beer’s viral Vogue makeup routine.

Once the moment of truth came — that is, after buffing out the rosy-pink liquid formula with my Real Techniques Expert Face Makeup Brush — the pink pigment seemed to have disappeared… but not entirely. What remained was a very subtle hint of pink and some barely-even-there sparkles smattered on the high points of my cheeks and the bottom corners of my forehead. I'm not really partial to base products with a vibrant color payoff and lots of sheen, so I was glad that this product didn't look as intense as it did straight out of the tube. In a recent Instagram video, Tilbury explained that the wands, which offer various blush and highlight shades, are a “viral, sellout sensation,” for their ability to flatter and illuminate the complexion.

I first saw the Light Wand—a shimmering pink blush and highlighter hybrid—in action in Madison Beer's Vogue “Beauty Secrets” video back in February, and shortly after, I couldn’t scroll TikTok without seeing it in a tutorial. I was mesmerized by the gorgeous shine and juicy pink flush and couldn’t wait to get it on my cheeks. It wasn’t available anywhere, and no amount of beauty-editor favors could get it into my hands. For months it taunted me every time I opened the app.

Flash-forward six months and a wait list of 50,0000 people later, and the Charlotte Tilbury Pinkgasm Light Wand has finally been restocked—and I haven’t gone a day without using it since it arrived at my doorstep. I was worried that the real thing wouldn’t measure up to the hundreds of videos I’ve seen, but I’m happy to report it’s even better in person. To use, apply the highlighter wand on your cheekbones, down the centre of your nose, in the inner corners of your eyes & browbone, then buff in using the Hollywood Complexion Brush. TikTok has completely changed how we shop for beauty products.

"It has the added benefit of giving a dewy, fresh look to the skin and can help makeup look less makeup-y," she previously told Allure. The sponge applicator is incredibly easy (and fun) to use, and just a few dabs will go a long way. It blends gorgeously into my skin and can be easily built up from a natural flush to full-on statement blush—like Madison and most of the TikTok girlies, I prefer the latter. I’m generally skeptical of products that claim to be universally flattering, but I have a hard time imagining someone this would look bad on.

I prepped with a primer and then used my usual foundation. All was well in paradise, so I reached for my brand-spanking-new and long-awaited products. It took me two tries to get the Revolution Eye Bright Concealer right because it dries pretty quickly. But on my second attempt of working swiftly to put three dots under each cheekbone and buff it in with a beauty blender, I was hooked. It made me look snatched and stayed exactly where I wanted it for hours on end. Ok, hands up who actually has time for 8 hours of sleep these days?

I usually prefer matte blushes, but the shimmer is so fine it doesn’t read as glittery—just fresh and dewy. It doesn’t emphasize the acne scarring on my cheeks and will be clutch this winter, when my skin gets pale and sallow. My confidence has truly suffered in the last year, but when I swiped on this blush, I felt prettier than I ever have—I audibly gasped at the effect. And, in the pattern of love at second sight, NYX Sweet Cheeks cream blush blew me away too. But after a quick swipe of a makeup wipe and some experience under my belt I can honestly say—it’s probably the most pigmented, long-wearing blush I’ve ever used. It’s also worth mentioning that, while the packaging may not be as pretty as its high-end counterpart, it allowed for a clean application and features a simple screw top that kept me (a person prone to mess-making) from making a mess. Step one is a hydrating eye cream containing witches brew-sounding ingredients (Bio Extract of Salicornia, Magical Laricyl and Hyaluronic Filling Spheres, anyone?) that are tailored specifically to the sensitive skin under our eyes. When we brushed it on and patted it in, we felt a slight tightening and firming – kind of like Spanx for the eyes. After letting it set for a few seconds, we brushed on the Illuminate Under-Eye Reflector.

But for $38 a pop and for them to 1) look almost entirely the same as products that are almost a quarter of the price or 2) not last the entire day, I can’t say that I’ll be repurchasing. After two months of loving my makeshift Madison Beer makeup routine, my phone buzzed with a text. You guessed it—Charlotte Tilbury herself (er, her text service, if you will) alerting me of the long-awaited beauty wand restock. If I had gotten the same text two months prior, I would have yeeted to the website with record-breaking speed. But as all classic grass-is-greener-on-the-other-side stories go, I bought both a $38 contour wand and the same-priced blush stick, mostly out of curiosity.

Nothing in my (giant) arsenal of blushes would satisfy me. I busted through the doors at Sephora and slid on over to the Charlotte Tilbury stand to get my hands on the contour and blush wands, only to find that they were completely out of stock. I was a bit salty and very much soggy from the rain, but I said aloud, “No matter, I’ll check online.” And that’s when I realized that the two products I thought I needed to achieve the Madison Beer glow were completely out of stock. I signed up for restock lists, Charlotte Tilbury texts that I’m too lazy to turn off, and refreshed their website twice a day, waiting for the drop. You can finally get Charlotte Tilbury's beloved Beauty Wand in Pinkgasm for $38 at charlottetilbury.com. Like I mentioned, there's currently a wait list of over 50,000 eager shoppers, but if you're unable to get your hands on it, the beauty wand is luckily still available in the shade Peachgasm.
